Magnesium Oxide Material Characteristics

  • Excellent high-temperature resistance: Magnesium oxide ceramics have a melting point as high as 2852, a long-term service temperature of over 1800, and can withstand an extreme high temperature of 2000for a short time, far exceeding ordinary metals and traditional ceramic materials. It has excellent thermal stability, is not prone to thermal shock cracking during repeated heating and cooling cycles, and can maintain structural integrity, making it an ideal material for high-temperature working conditions.

 

  • Superior electrical insulation performance: Within a wide frequency range and high-temperature environment, magnesium oxide ceramics still maintain a very high volume resistivity (over 10¹⁴Ω·cm at 20), a breakdown electric field strength of more than 10kV/mm, and extremely low dielectric loss. This stable insulation performance is not significantly affected by changes in humidity and temperature, providing reliable insulation protection for electronic components and power equipment.

 

  • Outstanding chemical stability: Magnesium oxide ceramics have stable chemical properties, good corrosion resistance to most acid, alkali, and salt solutions, and can especially resist the erosion of molten metals, glass melts, and high-temperature steam. It does not chemically react with most metals and can maintain stable performance in both oxidizing and reducing atmospheres, avoiding erosion and damage to the material by the working environment.

 

  • Good thermal conductivity: Compared with other insulating ceramics, magnesium oxide ceramics have a higher thermal conductivity (about 36W/(m·K) at room temperature), which can quickly conduct heat, effectively reduce the local temperature during equipment operation, reduce the impact of thermal stress on products and equipment, and extend the service life.

 

  • High strength and wear resistance: After high-temperature sintering, magnesium oxide ceramics form a dense crystal structure, with high flexural strength and hardness (Mohs hardness of about 6.5-7.0), excellent wear resistance, which can resist particle erosion and mechanical friction, and maintain structural integrity under harsh working conditions.
