Introduction

Metal mesh ozone tablets, whose core technology is surface discharge technology. Their structure is usually as follows:

  • Dielectric layer: A thin sheet made of special ceramics (such as alumina) or other insulating materials. This is the base for the discharge.
  • Electrodes: On one or both sides of the dielectric layer, a layer of metal (such as stainless steel, titanium, etc.) is sintered or plated through a special process to form a mesh-like electrode.
  • High-voltage electric field: When an alternating current (usually from a few kHz to several tens of kHz) with a high voltage (several thousand volts) is applied between the two electrodes, a very dense and powerful electric field will be formed at the edge of the metal mesh and the surface of the dielectric layer.

 

Work process:

  • The oxygen (O₂) in the air passes through the mesh holes of the metal net or surrounds the dielectric sheet.
  • Under the influence of a powerful high-frequency electric field, the electrons near the electrodes acquire extremely high energy.
  • These high-energy electrons bombard the oxygen molecules (O₂), causing them to decompose into oxygen atoms (O).
  • A single oxygen atom (O) combines with another oxygen molecule (O₂) to form ozone (O₃).

In simple terms: It uses high voltage electricity to "tear apart" oxygen molecules on the ceramic surface and recombine them into ozone molecules.

 

Main advantages of metal mesh ozone sheet

Compared with other ozone generation technologies (such as tubular ozone generators and ultraviolet ozone lamps), the metal mesh ozone sheets have significant advantages:

  • High ozone concentration and large output: Due to the highly concentrated electric field during surface discharge, the energy density is high, and the amount of ozone produced per unit area is large, with high efficiency.
  • Compact structure, small size: The entire component can be made very thin and small, facilitating integration into various household, portable or space-constrained devices.
  • Long lifespan: The core ceramic medium and sintered metal electrodes are very stable and resistant to oxidation corrosion. Under normal working conditions, their lifespan can reach several thousand or even tens of thousands of hours.
  • Low energy consumption, high efficiency: The efficiency of converting electrical energy into ultraviolet light is very low, while surface discharge directly uses electrical energy to decompose oxygen molecules, with higher energy conversion efficiency and greater energy saving.
  • Mercury-free and environmentally friendly: Different from ultraviolet ozone lamps, it does not contain toxic heavy metal mercury and is environmentally friendly.
  • Quick startup: Ozone is generated immediately upon power-on, without the need for preheating.

 

Application Fields

Due to its high efficiency, small size and long lifespan, the metal mesh ozone tablets are widely used in various scenarios where efficient sterilization, disinfection, odor removal and bleaching are required:

  • Household appliances:
  • Disinfection cabinet: Kills bacteria and disinfects tableware.
  • Refrigerator / Refrigerator deodorizer: Breaks down odor molecules, inhibits bacterial growth, and extends the shelf life of food.
  • Air purifier: Kills bacteria and viruses in the air, decomposes organic pollutants such as formaldehyde and smoke odor.
  • Fruit and vegetable detoxifier / Washing machine: Breaks down pesticide residues on the surface of fruits and vegetables, and kills bacteria.
  • Washing machine: Injects ozone during or after washing to enhance cleaning, disinfection, and bleaching effects.
  • Commercial and industrial fields:
  • Water treatment: Kills bacteria and disinfects drinking water, swimming pool water, and small amounts of wastewater.

Precautions for Use

  • Safety first, avoid inhalation

It is strictly prohibited to use the ozone equipment in enclosed spaces where there are people, animals, or plants. Ozone can strongly irritate and damage the respiratory mucosa, causing harm to the lungs.

After using the ozone equipment, adequate ventilation is necessary (usually requiring 30 minutes to 1 hour). Only when the ozone has completely decomposed and returned to oxygen can people enter.

  • Concentration control:

Different application scenarios have corresponding safe ozone concentration standards. Do not blindly pursue high concentrations.

Industrial-level applications require ozone concentration monitoring equipment to ensure safety.

  • Material compatibility:

Ozone is a strong oxidant and can cause corrosion and aging of rubber (such as natural rubber), certain plastics, and metals (such as copper, iron), etc.

Ensure that the ozone generation equipment and the materials in the application environment are ozone-resistant (such as stainless steel, silicone, polytetrafluoroethylene PTFE, etc.).

  • Power supply and maintenance:

It is necessary to use a matching dedicated high-frequency high-voltage power supply. Incorrect voltage or frequency will seriously affect the ozone output and component lifespan.

Keep the surface of the ozone sheet clean and dry. Dust, oil stains, or moisture will seriously affect the discharge efficiency and may cause short circuits and sparking, damaging the components.

Regularly check. If the ozone output significantly decreases or the electrodes have severe burning, replace it promptly.

  • Environmental factors influence:

The output of the ozone sheet is affected by environmental temperature and humidity. High temperatures or excessive humidity will lead to a decrease in output.

Its raw material is oxygen, so working in an air-conditioned environment is more effective. In a pure oxygen environment, its output will significantly increase.
