2.Applications & Usage Instructions

2.1 Applications of Quartz Cuvette cell:

Quartz cell cuvettes suitable for ultraviolet-visible spectrum analysis instruments and imported spectroscopic instruments, and has good chemical compatibility.

2.2 Instructions for Use:

Both bottom and side of cuvette cell with frosted glass, the other two sides of the optical glass pervious to light is made of molten glass powder, and high temperature sintering and glue. So please pay attention to the following notes when using:
When taking cuvette, please use finger contact with frosted glass on either side to avoid contact with the optical surface. Please pay attention to take light put, prevent the influence of the external force contrast cuvette, it will produce damage after stress.
.When using cuvette, two translucent surfaces should be completely parallel and vertically placed in cuvette holder to ensure that incident vertical light is perpendicular to the translucent surface, it can avoid the loss of retroreflection of the light and ensure the optical path retention.Optical surface can not contact with hard objects or dirt, when containing solution, the height is 2/3 of the cuvette. If the optical surface of residual liquid, please use filter paper to absorb clean, and then wipe with lens cleaning paper or silk.
.Do not store corrosive glass solution in cuvettes for a long time. The cuvette should be rinsed with water immediately after use. If necessary, soak with 1: 1 hydrochloric acid, and then rinse with water. Do not put the cuvette on flame or electric stove for heating or put into drying oven to grill.

3.Cuvette Selection Principles


3.1 The selection principles of cuvettes


When choosing a cuvette, in addition to considering its material, other key technical indicators should also be paid attention to.
Material selection: Common materials for cuvettes include glass, quartz and plastic. Glass cuvettes are relatively inexpensive and have good light transmittance for visible light, making them suitable for measurements in the visible light region. Quartz cuvettes have high light transmittance in both the ultraviolet and visible light regions and are suitable for ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry, but they are relatively expensive. Plastic cuvettes have relatively poor light transmittance, but they have the advantages of chemical corrosion resistance and low cost. They are often used in experiments with low precision requirements or in single-use scenarios. When making a selection, the appropriate material should be determined based on the specific requirements of the experiment and the wavelength range to be used.


3.2 The relationship between wavelength and material


In the visible light region, glass cuvettes are widely adopted due to their price advantage and economy. However, in the ultraviolet region, quartz cuvettes are more suitable for ultraviolet light experiments. They are favored because they do not absorb ultraviolet light and often replace glass cuvettes to ensure the accuracy of experimental data.


3.3 Considerations for UV-VISS


From the perspective of users, the stability and reliability of UV-VISS are the core concerns. Stability is reflected in small drift and good repeatability, while reliability is closely related to photometric accuracy (PA) and low failure rate.


3.4 Light transmittance matching procedure


According to the current national verification regulations, the difference in light transmittance between paired cuvettes should be controlled within ±0.5%. In the visible light region, both glass and quartz cuvettes are applicable, so the pairing selection can be made by directly comparing the light transmittance of each cuvette. Specifically, a four-contrast cuvette can be used for measurement at a wavelength of 500nm, with air and pure water as the medium. Adjust the transmittance of one cuvette in each group to 100%, and then measure the transmittance of the other one. If the difference in transmittance does not exceed 5%, it can be determined that these contrasting cuvettes can be used in pairs.
