Porous alumina infiltration cup, commonly referred to as clay infiltration irrigation tube, is a specialized water-conductive porous ceramic component manufactured through medium-high temperature integrated sintering of high-alumina kaolin mineral raw materials. The whole production process abandons organic glue and chemical binders; refined high-alumina clay powder undergoes uniform mixing, static pressing into one-piece blanks, and constant-temperature calcination to form interconnected, evenly distributed capillary micropores throughout the product body.

The internal micropore network generates stable capillary force, which pushes irrigation water to seep out slowly and evenly without instantaneous large water flow. Unlike surface spray irrigation and flood irrigation, this product realizes subsurface root-targeted water supply, minimizing ineffective water loss. It is custom-developed to address water waste, pipeline blockage and short service life of traditional plastic drip irrigation accessories, widely adapted to facility agriculture, mountain dry land and landscape planting environments worldwide.

1.2 Material Composition & Processing Classification

The core chemical constituent of finished products is high-purity alumina, with alumina content exceeding 80%, supplemented by natural silicate mineral phases to balance structural strength and water permeability. According to sintering temperature and performance differences, products are divided into two mainstream grades: standard medium-temperature sintered type and reinforced high-strength sintered type.

The standard grade adopts moderate firing temperature, balancing porosity and cost for conventional greenhouse and garden irrigation. The reinforced version is calcined under higher temperature to raise overall density and compressive resistance, suitable for deep burial in heavy soil, saline-alkali land and long-cycle orchard planting. All raw materials are natural inorganic minerals, free of toxic plasticizers and heavy metal additives, fully compliant with green agricultural material standards with no harmful precipitation into soil.

2.1 Physical Pore Structure Parameters

Microporous capillary structure is the core functional foundation of infiltration ceramic, with fixed and stable physical indexes. Its bulk density stands at 1.6–2.0 g/cm³, delivering solid texture that resists collapse under overlying soil pressure. Total porosity reaches 40%–50%, while effective open porosity is 30%–40%, creating sufficient continuous channels for water transmission.

The uniform pore size of 1–5 μm is precisely controlled during sintering, forming stable capillary traction. Corresponding water absorption rate ranges from 25%–40%, ensuring sustained mild seepage without surging water outflow under normal working water pressure. The rigid sintered ceramic skeleton avoids the deformation and pore shrinkage issues of soft plastic drippers, maintaining consistent water output volume throughout long-term underground operation. Fine soil particles and organic residues are not easy to embed and block internal channels, significantly lowering cleaning frequency.

2.2 Chemical Stability

Supported by high alumina matrix, the material possesses excellent chemical inertness. It withstands corrosion from acidic organic fertilizers, alkaline soil humus and mildly saline groundwater, without chemical reactions that generate precipitates to clog micropores. The product is completely non-toxic and biologically harmless; after long-term burial, it will not release toxic substances to contaminate crop root zones, soil and underground water, fully meeting the planting standards of organic fruits and vegetables. It also maintains stable performance when mixed with most water-soluble nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers for integrated water and fertilizer irrigation.

2.3 Mechanical & Long-Term Durability Performance

One-piece high-temperature sintering eliminates assembly seams and adhesive interfaces, fundamentally eradicating cracking, degumming and bursting failures common to plastic and rubber irrigation parts. The dense ceramic outer layer resists friction from soil stones and extrusion from soil compaction. Without artificial mechanical damage, the product can remain buried underground for multiple planting cycles with unchanged water permeability. It will not age, harden or crack under seasonal temperature alternation between cold winters and hot summers, a prominent advantage over polymer drip tapes with a service life of only 1–2 years.

The moderate density and compressive strength allow flexible shallow or deep burial according to different crop root depths, covering almost all terrestrial planting scenarios.
